Yeovil Town have announced that Joel Grant has agreed to join them on a two-year deal.
The EADT understands that Ipswich Town had offered the winger a deal at Portman Road, with Portsmouth assistant boss Steve Allen revealing yesterday that – following the League Two club’s own talks with the player – he thought the 25-year-old was on his way to Ipswich.
However, Grant – whose contract at Wycombe Wanderers is up at the end of the month – has today signed for newly-promoted Championship club Yeovil.
Having kept the core of the squad which finished the season so strongly – signing loanees Jay Tabb, Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick on permanent deals – Blues boss Mick McCarthy is keen to strengthen further before the opener at Reading on August 3.
Central midfielder Cole Skuse has signed on a Bosman free transfer from Bristol City, with a keeper, centre-back and winger now topping the priority list.
