Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane, has insisted that Jon Walters will not play for him again. Keane left Walters out of his squad for this afternoon’s 1-1 home draw against Burnley, having been stripped of the captaincy 24 hours earlier.

New skipper David Norris broke the deadlock on 85 minutes this afternoon, only for defender Clarke Carlisle to head home an injury time equaliser.

Keane said “If a players desire is to leave the club then I don’t think he should be captain of the team. I still intended to play Jon (Walters) in my team on Friday morning, but after his reaction I decided to leave him out.

Jon Walters will not play for this club again as long as I am here. He is finished with me. It was not a ruck but more an exchange of views, which is the posh way of saying things” added Keane.

The Town boss revealed that he is hoping to sign as many as three players next week, one of them being Jason Scotland from Wigan.
