IPSWICH Town boss Roy Keane revealed at this lunchtime’s press conference that no new players were likely to sign within the next 48 hours.

Keane continues to be in the hunt for two new faces, both attackers, and has been strongly linked with Wigan’s Jason Scotland. He is also considering loan options, with another midfielder and a defender also on his horizon.

“We are no nearer getting any new players in today than we were last week,” admitted Keane.

“There has been no progress and no positive news. I’ve done my part of the bargain, with freeing up wages and letting players go, I now take a step back, and let the chief executive and owner do the negotiations to get the players we need in, and badly need.

“We have been interested in a number of players, and we’re also waiting to hear back from clubs for loan players.

“At the moment, these deals do not look too close to being done, not today and not tomorrow,” added Keane.
