ROY Keane today issued a 'prove what you can do'

message to his Ipswich Town players.

The Blues boss welcomes his squad back for pre-season training on Thursday week, and he has promised every one that he will get a chance to show what he do in the pre-season matches.

Keane at the weekend confirmed that he has four players he is chasing to sign this summer - if the price is right.

And now he has opened the door to the current playing staff to stake their claim for a place against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena when the Coca-Cola Championship kicks-off on August 8.

“I am very happy with our pre-season schedule,” said Keane.

“Every player will get his chance to show me what they can do and they will all start from a level playing field.

“They will all get a chance to impress before I select a team for the visit to Coventry.”

Town begin their summer matches with a trip to Finn Harps in Ulster in a fortnight and within a week of a return to training, and Keane added: “I will look to play a lot of players in that game. It is unlikely that anyone will play 90 minutes, as we will not have been training for many days.”

Players undergoing treatment have been at the Blues' training ground in Playford Road for much of the summer, and they are expected to be joined by a number of their team-mates at the back end of this week and early next to get in some preparation work.

With Ed Upson having joined Alex Bruce in signing a new Town deal, Shane Supple will follow suit within the next few days.

This leaves Liam Trotter to decide whether to accept Town's one-year offer or a longer one that will be made by Scunthorpe if he decides against staying with his home-town club.

Reggie Lambe, a full Bermuda international, has confirmed he will sign his first professional contract with Ipswich next week.

Lambe played for Bermuda Under-23s against Crystal Palace Baltimore at the weekend. The 18-year-old was initially offered a deal by Jim Magilton in April, but said the terms of his contract were still undetermined.

“I've not signed the contract yet but I will do when I return to the England for pre-season training,” said Lambe.

“We still need to discuss how long the contract will be and my salary. It's good that we've got a new manager and he knows how to take care of his players.”

Northern Ireland international Chris Casement has been released by Town and has signed a three-year contract with Dundee.

Casement, 21, made 14 appearances for the Blues, having come through the academy and was a member of the 2005 FA Youth Cup-winning side.

Ipswich are not commenting on whether Keane is showing any interest in his former Manchester United team mate Quinton Fortune, who reports suggest could be having a trial with Town.

Hull City manager Phil Brown has expressed an interest in the South African.

Released Leicester defender Patrick Kisnorbo has turned down the chance to join Melbourne Victory with the Australian another player linked with Town.
