R0Y KEANE is looking forward to pitting his wits against Preston manager Darren Ferguson today - the son of his former manager at Manchester United Sir Alex.
And the Irishman says that he goes to his own father for advice.
“Darren did a brilliant job at Peterborough and he has a good team with some very good individuals at Preston,” added Keane.
“Like me Darren lacks experience, but also like me hopefully he will be around for a long time.
“Just because you may have been a good player doesn't mean you will become a good manager; it is chalk and cheese.
“I have no illusions I have a lot to learn and will make plenty of mistakes.
“But I have the same desire to succeed as I had as a player and I will get there.
“It might sound crazy at the moment but I'm here to do a job, and we will get there. We will take Ipswich to the Premier League.
“There has been a vast improvement in the last couple of months.”
Ferguson has the benefit of getting advice from his illustrious father. But Keane says he also has a father he can turn to.
“My father knows his football,” said Keane.
“He is no so high profile, but if I need advice I can go to him.”
