CONNOR Wickham and Gareth McAuley are both struggling to be fit for Ipswich Town’s final game of the season, at Leicester City this Saturday.
Striker Wickham has missed the last couple of games with a rib injury, while defender McAuley missed last weekend’s 2-1 win over Preston due to a slight tear to his groin.
Manager Paul Jewell will make late decisions on both players.
“Gareth is going to train this morning,” explained Jewell at this morning’s press conference.
“And we will see how Connor is. Once we get one or two injuries to key players, then we are stretched.
“It’s not just a game of 11, it’s all about a group of 21 or 22 players who can come in and do a job,” added Jewell.
If McAuley fails to be fit for the visit to the Walkers Stadium, then he could well have already played his last game for Town. His contract expires at the end of the season and he is yet to sign a new deal.
