ALAN Lee has completed his £600,000 move to Crystal Palace.

The striker has agreed a three-year deal on around £10,000 a week basic to join the Eagles and is expected to go straight into their squad to face Reading, who have just sold Ibrahim Sonko to Stoke City.

The EADT revealed on Wednesday that Town had accepted an offer for the 30-year-old and Lee completed his medical on the Thursday.

While Palace boss Neil Warnock sees Lee as competition for James Scowcroft, who has now been linked with a move away, the deal represents good business for Ipswich Town who was signed by Joe Royle for less than £150,000 from Cardiff City.

Lee hit 34 goals in 109 Town appearances, including a career high 17 in the 2006/07 season, with his last coming in the League Cup tie against Leyton Orient in the first round.

Town will now step up their bid to bring in a striker with manager Jim Magilton hoping to secure a signing by Monday.

Town will not be getting centre-half Roger Johnson after he was priced out of their valuation with Cardiff rejecting a £4m bid from Hull City for the defender.
