Striker Luke Varney has departed Ipswich Town for Championship rivals Burton Albion.
Varney, 34, has signed an 18-month deal with Nigel Clough’s Albion, who currently sit 21st in the Championship.
The hard-working, industrious striker, affectionately dubbed ‘Reg’, by boss Mick McCarthy scored 5 goals in 47 games during his spell at Portman Road, which started back in February 2015.
His departure will raise hopes among Town fans that a new striker could be on the way, with Town recently linked to both Rotherham’s Danny Ward and Fulham’s Cauley Woodrow.
