JON Macken could spell trouble for Ipswich Town when he is expected to lead the Barnsley front line at Portman Road tonight.

But he is backing the Blues to do well this season - and he thanks Town manager Jim Magilton for giving his career the kick-start it needed.

“I will always be thankful for the opportunity I was given by Jim Magilton,” said Macken, who played for Town two seasons ago while on loan from Crystal Palace.

“At the time I was not in the team at Palace and was handed a chance to play regular football again.

“I enjoyed my time at Ipswich. Everything about the club was top-class - the facilities, the pitch, the way the club is supported. I liked the area - in fact, I don't have a bad word to say about the place.

“In passing, I still speak to the players and I struck up a good relationship with Alan Lee in a good footballing side.

“Playing first-team football kick-started my career and helped me when I did finally move on from Palace at the end of that season.

“While I obviously hope we win the game tonight, I believe Ipswich should be in for a good season. I wish them and Jim every luck.”

Barnsley manager Simon Davey has added teenagers Reuben Noble-Lazarus and Jamil Adam to his squad for tonight's match.
