Watford v Ipswich: IPSWICH Town finally ended their Watford jinx tonight – but boy did they leave it late.
An even encounter appeared to be heading for a draw until Michael Chopra slid in to convert Carlos Edwards’ low cross in the final minute of the match.
The travelling army of more than 1,000 Blues fans will be getting ‘I was there’ t-shirts printed after a miserable run of results against the Hornets was finally brought to an end.
Town had lost 12 and drawn three of their previous 15 games against the Hertfordshire club and another share of the spoils looked to be on the cards this time around.
Ipswich did all the attacking the first half but were restricted almost exclusively to shots from distance. Watford then upped their game in the second period and looked dangerous when target man Chris Iwelumo stepped off the substitutes’ bench.
Just like against Blackburn three days’ earlier, a youthful Blues kept going until the end. And again their perseverance got its reward.
