IPSWICH Town will unveil their new striker at a lunchtime press conference, and it is set to be Jason Scotland.
Manager Roy Keane confirmed this morning that Town had made no late bid for Michael Chopra, so instead Scotland appears to be the likely new arrival, from Wigan Athletic.
And Jon Stead will complete his move away from Portman Road this morning - the striker is at Bristol City for a medical.
Roy Keane confirmed at this morning’s press conference: “Jon is down at Bristol City. He’s agreed personal terms and we have agreed a fee.
“Jon goes with our best wishes, and we are disappointed to lose him. But that’s the situation we are in at the moment,
“We should get a new striker in today, but if that fails then we will give up on the Stead deal.
“It will have been a case of three strikers out and one striker in,” added Keane.
Responding to reports that Town had made a last ditch improved bid to sign Cardiff City hot shot Chopra, Keane said: “No, there has been no final bid.”
