IPSWICH Town today said that "no approach" had been made from David Beckham's camp for the former England captain to train with the club during Los Angeles Galaxy's close season.

Beckham is known to want to keep fit and it is likely he will seek out facilities with a club close to his Hertfordshire home when he returns to England.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton talks regularly with Galaxy coach Frank Yallop, leading to speculation that Beckham might train with Town, although other options would include Premiership sides Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham and Chelsea.

An Ipswich spokesman said: "Manager Jim Magilton was asked by the media two months ago if he would welcome Beckham to the club. Of course he would but there have been no talks or any approaches made.”
