EX-Ipswich Town skipper David Norris has agreed to sign for Championship rivals Portsmouth.
Norris had turned down the offer of a new two-year deal at Portman Road, and will instead sign for Pompey as a free agent when his current Town contract expires at the end of this month.
Norris was Town’s top scorer with 11 goals last season.
Both he and defender Gareth McAuley had rejected new deals to stay at Town. McAuley moved to Premiership side West Brom last month.
Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill said of the capture of Norris: “We’re delighted that he’s agreed to come.
“You don’t become the captain of a great club like Ipswich Town if you don’t have great leadership qualities.”
