ROY Keane has revealed that Brian Murphy will undergo an operation this evening, after breaking his ankle before Christmas.

Murphy had suffered the injury during a training session on December 23, and had initially hoped to get away without having to resort to surgery.

“Brian will have an operation today, having waited for the injury to settle down,” said Keane at this afternoon’s press conference.

“One way or another, he was always going to be out for three months, whether he had an operation or not.

“It’s his first operation, which is not bad for a keeper, because they usually break something,” added Keane.

Murphy had played three of Town’s last four games before suffering the injury.

Keane will have to make at least two changes from Town’s last outing, a 3-0 home win over Leicester, due to Shane O’Connor’s shoulder injury and loanee Gianni Zuiverloon’s return to West Brom.

O’Connor is expected to be out of action for six weeks, after rupturing and dislocating his shoulder in a training session, while Zuiverloon was recalled by the Baggies on Wednesday due to an injury-crisis at The Hawthorns.
