PLAYER REACTION: We wanted the win more than Watford – Massimo Luongo
Watford v Ipswich: He might be too new to know the pain Ipswich Town have gone through against Watford.
But that won’t stop Blues loanee Massimo Luongo celebrating Town’s fantastic 1-0 win at Vicarage Road tonight – ending an eight-year, 15-match winless streak against the Hornets.
Luongo said: “The team did well, we stuck at it for 90 minutes and I felt we wanted it more.
“We played good football and persistence got us there. I think we enjoyed defending in a frantic second half but we also enjoyed keeping the ball.
“They had the big lad (Chris Iwelumo) upfront in the second half but I thought we concentrated well and were very professional.”
Town players also took to Twitter to celebrate the three points.
Former Watford keeper Scott Loach said: “Boo me, call me, do what u like. 3 points and a clean sheet! #Itfc get in!! Thankyou to them fans that saw me an wished me the best after the game. Good people.”
