GOAL happy Alan Quinn is aiming for a personal record with Ipswich Town this season.

The midfielder has banged in four goals in as many days while in Belfast and he has set himself a double figure target for the new campaign.

Quinn's career best tally in one season was the 10 he hit for Sheffield United but he feels he can better that.

Quinn said: “Hopefully I can get more chances and I can score more goals for Ipswich. My main job is still to set up players and I enjoy doing that.

“I should have scored more for Sheffield Wednesday but I would like to get more here now.

“My aim is to get into double figures. I didn't give myself targets as such.

Quinn, who netted twice in the 7-0 win over Cliftonville on Monday and another two in the 4-1 victory over Donegal Celtic on Thursday, is hungry for more goals in pre-season.

Quinn went on as a second-half substitute in the opening two games, but played the whole 90 minutes on Saturday - the only outfield Town to do so.

Quinn said: “It suits me to play in the three-man midfield and it gives me space to try things.

“With someone sitting in front of the back five it gives you licence to get into the box with plenty of options.”

Although the Irishman has roomed with Jon Walters he managed to avoid the stomach bug that hit the squad.

He added: “I managed to avoid the bug even though I had been rooming with the lads.”
