JORDAN Rhodes netted twice and Dean Bowditch got the other as Ipswich Town reserves beat Watford 3-0 in the first round of the Football Combination Cup.

Bowditch wrapped up the scoring when he knocked in the rebound from his penalty saved by Richard Lee, at Boreham Wood.

Rhodes bagged a brace as a strong Town second string won comfortably, with Alan Quinn missing a good chance.

Ipswich Town: Supple; Peters, Smith, Balkestein, Robinson; Haynes, Reason, Norris, Quinn (Murphy, 87); Rhodes, Bowditch. Subs not used: Watson, Hyam, Wickham, Ward.
