MATT Richards could be heading for the Portman Road exit door after manager Jim Magilton admitted he would let him go.

Richards did not make the 18-man squad named for the trip to Belgium earlier this week, even when Sylvain Legwinski subsequently pulled out, casting a doubt over his Ipswich Town future.

And Blues boss Magilton revealed he was willing to allow Richards to go elsewhere, either on loan or in a permanent move.

Magilton said: “If the right club came along then I would allow Matt to go if it suited him. At the moment he is still part of the squad.

“Matt didn't make the 18 which is why he didn't come with us. If we get injuries then I will bring him back in.” Richards made his debut for Ipswich as a 16-year-old and is the Blues' youngest ever UEFA Cup player after starting against Avenir Beggin. The 22-year-old has clocked up nearly 170 appearances for the Blues after graduating from the Academy and is bound to attract interest from other Football League clubs now his availability is known.
