IPSWICH Town goalkeeper Shane Supple and Billy Clarke have joined Scottish Premier League club Falkirk on loan until the end of the season.

Supple has been on the bench for Town all season as understudy to Neil Alexander while Clarke has been in and out of the side during the campaign, appearing mainly as a substitute over the last two months.

“We need to get some of our young players out on loan and get them first-team football,” said Town boss Jim Magilton. “The standard of reserve team football is not up to the level we want for lads like Shane and Billy to progress and there is nothing to compare with first-team football week in, week out for the development of young players.

“This is a great opportunity for the pair of them to go out and play League football at a high level.”

Supple and Clarke could be in line to make their Falkirk debuts against Rangers at Ibrox on February 9, with the Gers likely to include former Blue Alexander in their side.

“I asked the boss if he could find me a loan club because I need to be playing first-team football and this is a great opportunity for me,” said Supple.
