IPSWICH Town face a long trip to Exeter in the first round of the Carling Cup.
With teams who finished 13th in League One or above seeded, as well as those from the north and south kept apart, the 570-mile round trip to Devon is one of the furthest Town could have got.
Paul Tisdale’s side narrowly avoided relegation from League One by just a single point last season, having previously secured back-to-back promotions from the Conference. They have earned plaudits along the way for their easy on the eye passing approach in a 3-5-2 system.
The game will see the Blues reunited with former striker Marcus Stewart, the 37-year-old striker having recently signed on at St James Park for one more season. Also on the staff at The Grecians is another ex-Town forward in the form of Richard Logan.
Ties will be played during the week commencing August 9.
