PREMIER League Wolves are set to table a 2.5 million bid for Ipswich Town top target Billy Sharp.
Reports this morning have claimed that Mick McCarthy is a known admirer of the Doncaster Rovers striker and will pursue Sharp regardless of whether Wolves stay up this season.
Town boss Paul Jewell last week made a 2.3 million bid for Rovers’ top scorer, but it remains to be seen whether he will want to get into a bidding war for the forward.
While disappointed that the bid for Sharp, and also team mate James Coppinger, was turned down, Jewell said he had other irons in the fire as he looked for a striker who would “kick his granny to score a goal”.
