PAUL Jewell has this evening confirmed that Ipswich have made bids for two more players.

Cagey about their identity, the Town boss admitted he was surprised the bids hadn’t been made public, presumably from the selling club.

After the Blues lost 1-0 against Hull City this afternoon, Jewell will be stepping up his search for a centre back – although whether a new man comes in time for Tuesday night’s match against Southampton at Portman Road remains to be seen.

Jewell refused to discuss any particular targets, including Stoke City’s Ryan Shotton, and played down an apparent Twitter account of Ibrahima Sonko where the former Reading man said he was in talks with Ipswich.

And the Town manager also denied speculation linking striker Tamas Priskin with a loan move to Championship rivals Leeds United.
