ASTON Villa defender Habib Beye is a loan target for Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell, according to reports.

French-born Senegal international Beye, 33, can play either right-back or centre-half. He has been frozen out of the first-team picture at Villa recently.

Jewell said yesterday that he was targeting “one or two’’ loan signings, and right-back is an obvious priority. Since David Wright was allowed to leave last summer, Ipswich have lacked a natural right-back.

Roy Keane tried Jaime Peters in that role with limited success, and in recent games Jewell has used Carlos Edwards at right-back.
