Town to entertain Cobblers in Carling Cup

IPSWICH Town have been drawn at home to Northampton Town in the first round of the Carling Cup.

IPSWICH Town have been drawn at home to League Two club Northampton Town in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Last season, Town progressed all the way through to the semi-finals of the competition, under former manager Roy Keane.

They eventually bowed out to Arsenal, losing 3-1 on aggregate after shocking the Gunners with a 1-0 win in the first leg at Portman Road.

The fixture will be played during the week beginning August 8.
