Lavery and Cawley also went close but it was Spurs who finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when a break down the left ended with a cross that reached the far post where Nathan Byrne fired home.

Ipswich went three at the back pushing central defender Tom Eastman forward and his height immediately troubled the Londoners' defence. As the game entered injury time it was put beyond Town's reach when another cross from the left ended with Jesse Waller-Lassen trickling the ball over the line from a yard out.
