THE cat-and-mouse transfer game between Ipswich and Derby over Rams leading scorer Steve Davies could see Bristol City dive in for his signature.

That is according to Sky Sports who have today claimed the Robins are in talks with the 24-year-old, who will miss his third consecutive Derby friendly when they face Northampton tonight.

While Paul Jewell publicly continues to voice concerns about the valuation placed on Davies, County boss Nigel Clough is keen to ensure his striker doesn’t get injured and place his sale in jeopardy.

And Bristol City boss Derek McInnes is ready to pounce in his own pursuit to improve his frontline for the coming season.

Ironically, the rumours linking the Robins with Davies come just 24 hours after they were also linked with a 1.5 million move for West Ham striker Sam Baldock – another said to be on Jewell’s radar.
