LIAM Trotter will join Scunthorpe United on a month's loan starting next week.

The League One side have snapped up the 20-year-old after he impressed on a trial recently.

The iron had wanted to take him earlier but Town needed him as cover when David Norris and Alan Quinn were suspended.

The timing also means if he were to extend the loan period to a full three months he would be available until the end of the season.

Trotter said: “I enjoyed the few days I spent with them. They are going well in League One, play good football and it is a chance fro me to play first team football, which is what I need.”

Trotter will travel to Swindon with the united squad this weekend but is not eligible to playas the paperwork will not be completed until Monday.
