Wickham in England squad

CONNOR Wickham has been named in the England Under-19s squad for next month’s friendly against Germany.

The Ipswich Town striker, who scored his first goal of the season in last week’s win against Doncaster, has been included in Noel Blake’s squad as preparations begin for the UEFA European Championship Elite Round Qualifiers in May.

Wickham played in the first qualifying round in Belgium in October, scoring one goal, and has since represented Stuart Pearce’s Under-21s.

The Under-19s squad also includes midfielders Jonjo Shelvey and Josh McEachran of Liverpool and Chelsea respectively and the highly sought-after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The match will be held on February 8 at the B2net Stadium, home of Chesterfield.
