IPSWICH Town defender David Wright isn't reading too much into the respective form of the two sides ahead of Preston's trip to Portman Road today.

The Lancashire club have made an unbeaten start to the season in all competitions and arrive in Suffolk off the back of three successive victories.

Ipswich, on the other hand, have taken just one point from their opening four Championship matches and crashed out of the Carling Cup to Peterborough on Tuesday night having scraped through on penalties against League Two side Shrewsbury Town in the first round.

“We'll sit down and look at Preston videos and try and work out a plan to beat them just like we do with most teams,” said Wright.

“But the most important thing is that we concentrate on ourselves because we know that if we play to the best of our abilities we can beat anyone.”

A poor start for Ipswich on Saturday could see an element of frustration build amongst the home fans, however Wright rejects the notion that it would be better to get away from the pressure cooker of Portman Road during this bad run of form.

“It's best to play at home at anytime. We haven't started as well as we'd have wanted, but a win on Saturday would be big.

“A win at any time is big obviously, but it would be a big plus to go into the two-week international break off the back of a win.

“We have only played a few games and there is still 40-odd left so there's nothing to panic about whatsoever. A win on Saturday could kick-start our season.”

Full-back Wright started the season as an unused substitute against Coventry, returned for the matches against Shrewsbury and Leicester, but was dropped again for the Crystal Palace defeat.

But with Gareth McAuley having been dropped for the last two matches against West Brom and Peterborough, Wright has once again found himself back in an ever-changing back four.

He said: “We are all the same, we want to play in all the games obviously, but the manager has changed it around a bit and you have just got to be professional about it and try and take your chance when you do get to play.

“I've played a number of games now with Brucey (Alex Bruce), Pim (Balkestein) and Gaz (Gareth McAuley) and we've all got used to each other. I'm comfortable playing with any of them.

“It's a squad came nowadays and every team is going to make changes almost every week so it's something you just have to get used to.”
