Division 6NE
Ipswich V 1 North Walsham III 0
Ipswich started life in 6NE with a win and a clean sheet in their first league game of the season.
Owen Cook opened the score for the home side when he drilled home the second attempt at a penalty corner midway through the first half.
Until the goal, Ipswich struggled to find any rhythm or pattern in their play. Although the attacks by North Walsham were limited in the first period, Ipswich keeper and man-of-the-match Jamie Bowden, making his debut in senior hockey, made several fine saves throughout the game to keep the home side in the driving seat.
A stern half time team talk saw Ipswich play far better in the second half and they began to play far more composed hockey.
