The next two minutes saw Ipswich lose the lead then immediately regain it through a move worthy of a far higher division, with Garry Scarff perfectly timing a run onto a perfect Godbold through ball to slot home.
The by now infamous, and legendary, fox in the box George Payne then showed why he is the most feared striker in the league by lashing home two more goals to ensure a comfortable lead at half time.
The highlights of an Ipswich dominant, if at times over-casual, second half included the Sudbury captain side footing home a corner-flag bound reverse stick effort from Fox.
Ipswich are now nine points clear in the promotion slot, with things looking good ahead of the trip to third placed Norwich City.
