Musgrove, the player-assistant manager at Stowmarket Town, believes the title race is still open ahead of Stow hosting the runaway leaders at Greens Meadow tomorrow afternoon (3pm).

Stow picked up arguably their best win of the season last weekend, as they scored three late goals to come from 2-1 down to win 4-2 at Brantham Athletic.

The result moved Stow back up to third place in the Premier Division table, but leaders Felixstowe, who have won all but two of their 25 league fixtures so far this season, will look to quickly derail any momentum building at Greens Meadow.

“For me the win at Brantham was our best win of the season,” Musgrove said.

“There have been some really important wins that have happened this season, but this one keeps us in that race really.

“It’s definitely nowhere near over. I think there’s twists and turns still to come, just because of the weather (over the winter) and what that does to the pitches.”

When asked which places he still sees Stow in the race for, Musgrove said: “They’re all open for me. I still think Felixstowe have got a twist in the tail.

“The win at the weekend sets us up nicely and if we can go and do what we’ve done on Saturday this weekend then we’ll see what happens.

“It’s all about momentum and team spirit.

“I do think a lot of people underestimate what a win does for you. It makes the job a lot easier during the week.”

Heading into this weekend’s clash at Greens Meadow, third-placed Stow trail Felixstowe by 24 points, while Coggeshall Town, in second, are five points clear and with three games in hand.

Although Billy Clark (Needham Market) and Ethan Clarke (Felixstowe) have both departed the club in recent weeks, Stow should bolster their squad when the trio of Jack Baker, Nathan Clarke and Remi Garrett all hopefully return from injury before the year is out.

Kick-off 3pm.
