The speedway season at Foxhall Stadium revs into action in just 17 days time.

And for one rider in particular, that day cannot come quick enough.

Ipswich Witches’ Danish star Morten Risager celebrates his 10-year association with the sport in this country and his big Testimonial Meeting on Saturday, March 22, will commence the action at Foxhall for 2014.

Risager today announced two more riders – and with that the full 16-man field – for the big night – an individual meeting – with Elite League aces Rory Schlein and Kenneth Hansen the two final pieces in a jigsaw which has quite a tasty look about it.

It now means all the riders are now in place, but there is still plenty of work to do for Risager.

“I’m very happy with the field,” he said.

“I did hope to get one or two more Grand Prix stars involved, but having Niels-Kristain Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre is fantastic. And of course with the likes of Scott Nicholls, Tobi Kroner and nearly all the Witches, there are plenty of riders who fans know so well.

“It’s been very hectic and it continues to be very hectic.

“I must admit I’m glad my meeting is being held at the start of the season which has given me the winter to sort things out.

“There is still much to do, but I’ve got time to do it, although that time is getting less.”

Schlein and Hansen add to a field that has a very competitive look to it and certainly one that is likely to pull in fans to Foxhall, not just from the Suffolk area but from all over East Anglia and further afield, as supporters look forward to another season of speedway action.

Many riders are already dusting off the cobwebs and Risager is among a group of riders, including fellow Witches Ritchie Hawkins and Rohan Tungate who were hoping to blow away a few winter cobwebs at King’s Lynn today in an open practice session.

“I haven’t actually sat on a bike since the 16-lapper at the end of last season,” said Risager, who won the event back in October.

“I will be riding in Denmark again this year but it’s my testimonial meeting I’m looking forward to.

“I hope the weather stays good and afterwards I can look back on a good night. Then it’s all systems go for the Witches.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for Morten’s big night, including mascot sponsorships available for youngsters.

It will cost £50 for which you will receive a child ticket, a certificate and get to walk out on parade with one of the riders.

Ipswich Witches young American star Gino Manzares flew into England yesterday, the last of the Witches to arrive in Suffolk ahead of the new season.

With press and practice day on Monday, March 17, a meet the riders’ night on Wednesday, March 19 and then Morten Risager’s Testimonial meeting on Saturday, March 22, he won’t have too much time to get used to his new surroundings with the season just two weeks away.

Gino is set to be based in Ipswich for what will be his first-ever year in full-time racing in England.
