FOURTEEN-year-old motorcycle trials ace Jack Sheppard is out of action for at least the next six weeks after breaking a metacarpal bone in his right-hand.
The Sproughton-based trials prodigy was competing in the YMSA Three-Day Trial at Bracken Rocks in Derbyshire when the incident happened and he will now miss next weekend's Inter-Centre Team Trial in Devon along with the next round of the National Youth-B Championship in the Isle of White - where a win would have seen him secure the series.
The accident happened on day two of the trial - on Sunday - when he attempted to climb a six-foot-high step-shaped rock.
Sheppard will now fight to recover from his injury in time for the next round of the National Youth-B Championship at Edmonton on October 14.
But if the determination and perseverance he has displayed in recent years are anything to go by, he will be back up to speed in no time.
