Winger Jerome Thomas is understood to be training with Ipswich Town this week.

The former Arsenal, Portsmouth, Charlton, West Brom and Crystal Palace player – who turns 33 in March – has been a free agent since he was released by the Eagles last summer. He trained with Scottish club Hearts last September but failed to agree terms.

His last competitive appearance came more than a year ago – as a 73rd minute substitute for Palace when they won 4-0 at non-league Dover in the FA Cup.

Town lost a winger from their squad last week when Australian international Tommy Oar asked to have his contract terminated having failed to settle in Suffolk.
