Striker Joe Garner was frustrated Ipswich Town were unable to grab a late draw in their 2-1 defeat by Derby County.
The Blues were thoroughly out-played during the first hour of their final game of 2017 as Sam Winnall gave the visitors a two-goal lead but, when Garner headed home from a Martyn Waghorn corner, there was hope both on the pitch and in the stands.
Despite their best efforts the hosts were unable to test Rams goalkeeper Scott Carson further, or force an equaliser, leaving Garner frustrated.
“We were much better in the second-half,” the 29-year-old striker said.
“This was a game of two halves, Derby were better than us first half and we were better than them in the second. We got a goal but couldn’t get the second.
“It’s frustrating as we were pressing in the final 20 minutes or so and on another day we’d have nicked another goal and come away with a point.
“But Derby are a good side and they defended well. I think they’ll be right up there at the end of the season.
“We’ll pick ourselves up to go again at Fulham and hopefully bounce back.”
