COLCHESTER United boss John Ward is not yet concerning himself with the January transfer window, but he has already revealed that he will probably try to bolster his squad.

Speaking on the eve of today’s League One test at managerless Hartlepool, Ward announced his intentions for the coming weeks.

“For me, the transfer window is too far ahead,” explained Ward.

“Anything can happen over the next two or three matches.

“I might have a few injuries, or another club might come in wanting to buy one of my players. That would change my perception.

“We want to get the games out of the way first. It’s a busy period, in terms of training and matches.

“I need to see what players I have got here. We are in a decent position at the moment, and if I can bring one or two in to make it stronger, to give ourselves that extra little push, then I would try to do that.

“I know I would have the support of the chairman.

“But first things first. Although those things are on my mind, we’ve got to get some more points in the bag,” added Ward.

The U’s boss is set to name an unchanged side against Hartlepool this afternoon, with Steven Gillespie returning from his one-match ban to almost certainly sit on the bench.
