Jon Walters is remaining in positive mood despite suffering an achilles injury which will keep him sidelined for six months and end his second spell at Ipswich Town.

The club revealed yesterday that the 35-year-old will be out for six months after suffering a partial achilles rupture in Saturday’s draw with Bolton.

He will be sidelined until the scheduled end of his loan in January, with the striker returning to parent club Birmingham for treatment.

He leaves Ipswich having made just three appearances during his second spell with the club.

“I’m naturally devastated with the news about my Achilles injury,” he wrote on Twitter.

“However bad things may seem at the time, in the grand scheme of life it’s just an insignificant bump and there’s a hell of a lot of people worse off than me. Thank you to @Official_ITFC physios for the great care.”

Speaking today, Hurst said: “He had been and seen the specialist and had seen him a couple of years previously and got images and evidence to show the Achilles had been in much better shape than he had before.

“There was never a thought he could go on the pitch and make it worse, so it was a shock in that sense.
