IPSWICH Town kept on course for winning the Pontin's Holidays Combination East Division title with a 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road yesterday afternoon.
Jordan Rhodes, 17, scored twice on a day when central defender Gerard Nash returned to play for the Blues
After an injury-plagued couple of years Nash was released by Town last summer and he is now playing for Leiston in the Ridgeons League.
Nash will be playing against the Town second string for Leiston in the Club Colours Suffolk Premier Cup final at Portman Road on April 17.
He now works at Ipswich's Academy as a coach.
Rhodes put Town ahead in the 39th minute after good work from Kieran Leabon and he netted his second in the 71st minute.
A young Town side played well throughout against a similarly youthful Orient team although a couple of defensive lapses prevented a three-point haul.
Rhodes, Kurt Robinson and Sammy Moore were the most impressive performers. Efe Echanomi and Jason Demetriou were on target for the home side.
The draw leaves the Blues seven points clear at the top of the table and two more wins should guarantee the title. They entertain Orient at Portman Road next Tuesday.
Town team: Supple, Barron, Nash (sub Tooms 82 mins), Fenn, Robinson, Upson, Reason, Moore, O'Callaghan, Leabon (Ainsley 88), Rhodes. Subs: Plummer, Clemo, Daniels.
