JOSH Thompson cut a crestfallen figure on Friday evening, following Colchester United’s damaging 1-0 home defeat by Bournemouth.

But the U’s young centre-half is confident that the U’s can make amends at relegation rivals Oldham today.

“It’s all about putting it right,” insisted Thompson.

“Bournemouth was not up to the standards we have set, especially in the last couple of games. We’ve got to go out and do it.

“Every game is a massive game now. We’ve got to learn from Bournemouth, and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again. It has to be just a blip.

“It’s a huge game, and we will make sure that we keep our heads up,” added Thompson.

Oldham will leapfrog the U’s, out of the relegation zone, if they win today, so it is a vital encounter.
