MONACO midfielder Jimmy Juan will get his first run out in the blue of Ipswich Town tonight for the reserves against Coventry City, writes Derek Davis.

The Frenchman, who has joined Town on loan for the rest of the season, will get a run out after training with the first team squad on Friday.

Juan has joined the Blues as part of a new link-up between the two clubs and will be looking to break into the first-team squad in time for their trip to Sheffield United.

A product of Monaco's youth academy, Juan has barely figured in the first team, but is hoping his attacking midfield style will enable him to be part of Ipswich's promotion push.

He will be joined in an attacking midfield by Dean McDonald, who was released by Arsenal academy last summer.

The 20-year-old has looked impressive in his other two reserve matches, and starred in the win over Portsmouth last week and is expected to be offered a contract this week.

Fellow triallist John Paul Kelly, who was much fancied by Ipswich as a young teenager but chose to join Liverpool for big money, is not going to to be offered anything and has returned Ireland.

With the senior players in the sun, it gives the youngsters a chance to shine with a couple of schoolboys also penciled in to play.

Young Irish keeper Shane Supple has recovered from an ankle problem and returns to action along with Billy Clarke, who scored for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s in a friendly in Italy last week.

Another Irish boy, Owen Garvan, will be the midfield general as he continues to look a terrific prospect.

Clarke's FA Youth Cup strike-partner Darryl Knights will miss out as he is with a young England side.

The defence will be anchored by former Ford United duo Ben Patten and Jerrome Sobers.

Daniel Flack and Adam Atay will be out to impress. Even though they have been told they will not be kept on by Town they could catch the eye of a scout at the game.

With Steve McCall over in Tenerife with the first-team squad, Bryan Klug is taking charge at Nuneaton Borough tonight.

City have not won in six of their last reserve matches, while a strong Blues second string beat Pompey at Portman Road last week, thanks to a Matt Richards goal.

A much stronger team to the one that will play tonight, is expected to meet City next Monday at Portman Road.

Drissa Diallo is scheduled to play then if his recovery from a hamstring injury continues as planned.

Probable Ipswich Town reserves squad: Supple, Barron, Mitchell, Collins, Patten, Krause, Atay, Flack, Garvan, Clarke, Craig, McDonald, Juan, Boto, Leabon and Boto.

n DEAN Bowditch has been selected for the England Under-19s after their friendly with Belgium was switched.

The game will now be played on Wednesday, February 9, in Zulte-Waregam, after originally being scheduled for Saturday, February 5, when Town are at Sheffield United.

Darren Bent is in line for another England Under-21s match, while Finland could call up Shefki Kuqi that week.
