SUFFOLK County Football Association has appointed Helen Bass as its new Women's and Girls' Football Development Officer. Helen has been involved in girls' and women's football in the county for 11 years.

SUFFOLK County Football Association has appointed Helen Bass as its new Women's and Girls' Football Development Officer. Helen has been involved in girls' and women's football in the county for 11 years. She is captain of both the County League-winning Suffolk Ladies' team, in which she won the Player of the Season award for 2006-7, and Ipswich Town Women's Football Club, finishing the season as top scorer. Helen also coaches at Ipswich Town Girls' Centre of Excellence. She succeeds Kate Steed who held the post for the previous four years. Commenting on her appointment Helen said: “I am delighted to have been appointed, and I am really looking forward to working hard to develop the opportunities available to girls and women to play football in the county.”

County secretary Martin Head said: “Although we were sorry to lose Kate Steed, who was an outstanding success, we are delighted to welcome Helen as part of our team. She impressed at her interview with her love of football and desire to do well and I am sure she has the qualities to build on Kate's achievements.”
