SUFFOLK Over-50s defeated the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Over-50s by eight wickets with eight overs to spare at Mistley on Wednesday.

In bowler-friendly conditions it was a good toss to win, and after a bright start from Trevor Mills and Jon Wiseman, the Two Counties lost a cluster of wickets and it was left to Martin Southwell (51) and Steve Bulger to help post a respectable 148 all out in the 44th over.

The Suffolk side got off to a steady start before there was a masterclass of batting from Keith Howlett who exuded class in a delightful innings of 86 not out aided and abetted by Nick Crame before the rains came yet again.

Mistley CC are to be congratulated on their superb efforts to get this game on and in particular the Mills family and Martin Lambert who made sure that both teams were well looked after.
