The Fen Tigers complete their National Trophy campaign with the visit of National League new-boys the Kent ‘Kings’ on Sunday.

The Fen Tigers will be looking to finish on a high note and hopefully secure second place in the competition following home and away victories against the Buxton ‘Hitmen’ in the last fortnight.

The Kings have yet to record their first victory, but the Fen Tigers certainly will not be taking them lightly following a battling display by the Kings when Mildenhall claimed a 48-42 victory at Central Park on the late May Bank Holiday Monday.

Mildenhall co-promoter Chris Louis commented - “We did feel at the start of the season that the Isle of Wight would be the favourites for most of this year’s competitions, and it would be no disgrace to finish second to them at this stage of the season. We will definitely be all out to beat Kent and keep the momentum we have going as we get ready to start our league campaign in earnest.

That said, we know that Kent are improving and have made changes to their line-up and I’m expecting another tight meeting where we will need to be on top of our game to ensure we claim all three points on Sunday.

“Our side is developing as we had always thought they would and we are confident that we will become even stronger as the season progresses”.

With bad weather forecast in the North West for Saturday, the Workington ‘Comets’ have moved their Premier League KOC tie with the Somerset ‘Rebels’ back to Sunday evening.

This late change means Fen Tigers No 1 Stefan Nielsen will now not be available for Sunday afternoon’s National Trophy meeting versus Kent. The promotion have move swiftly to book Coventry ‘Storm’ and British Under 21 Champion Robert Branford as Stefan’s replacement.

This is the start of a busy period for the Fen Tigers and their supporters as following Sundays meeting come two potentially season defining fixtures in the National League, at home to the Isle Of Wight (Sunday 23rd) and away to Dudley (Tuesday 25th), followed by the staging of the National League Best Pairs at West Row on Sunday 30th June!
