SOME of the country's best kickboxers are coming to Ipswich tomorrow thanks to Onehouse world champion Marlon Hunt and his trainer Richard Stephens.

Having been made the official World Association of Kickboxing Organisations Pro GB East Anglia promoters and team selectors, Hunt and Stephens (United Fighters Promotions) have used their contacts to bring the very best fighters to an event billed as 'evolution'.

Held tomorrow at the Ipswich Corn Exchange, Hunt is excited about the show.

He said: “I was always being asked, 'when can we see the top fighters fight in our area?' and 'why are the best shows always so far away?' So myself and Richard worked long and hard so that now we can give the kickboxing fans from Suffolk what they deserve. True kickboxing at its best.

“You will finally have the chance to see and meet the officially top-ranked fighters of Britain fighting it out for recognised titles. Not on TV, but live at the Ipswich Corn Exchange.

“We want to work with all other local clubs and fighters to try to promote them, make them the best they can be and show the rest of Britain, if not the world, that Suffolk has great fighters too.”

The show will start with 16-year-old six times world light continuous junior champion Leif Taggart, and will include a prestigious pro undercard which will include a qualifying bout between two times British champion Scott Jenkinson versus Jon Durrant.

The Jenkinson v Durrant bout will determine who will fight Marlon Hunt for the WAKO PRO title when Hunt comes back from his injury.

The show will round off with two WAKO-PRO British titles on the main event.

Firstly, four times British champion and European champion Shawn 'Boom Boom' Burton defends his title against two times British champion Stuart Lawson.

Then three-time British champion, European champion and former boxer Bridie Murphy takes on the formidable 16 times British champion and two times world champion Lisa Higo.

Doors open 5pm. For ticket details call the hotlines on: 07765500980 or 07774857181.
