Wivenhoe took the lead after only three minutes when new signing Mark Reddaway stabbed home from close range. Bury started the second half more positively and after 64 minutes Owen Paynter was on hand to score with a stunning volley from outside the box. Wivenhoe regained the lead when Reddaway took advantage of some poor defending to slot past Calton, but Bury equalised after 80 minutes through shot-come-cross from James Tatham.
