COLCHESTER United have yet to start signing new blood for the new season, but they can take heart from the early sale of season tickets.Chief Executive Marie Partner revealed that the Essex club were delighted with the increase in sales, following their remarkably successful first season in the Championship last term.

COLCHESTER United have yet to start signing new blood for the new season, but they can take heart from the early sale of season tickets.

Chief Executive Marie Partner revealed that the Essex club were delighted with the increase in sales, following their remarkably successful first season in the Championship last term.

“Season ticket sales have been going very well, and they have just pitched over 4,000,” enthused Mrs Partner.

“That represents a 25% increase on last year, showing that people are very positive for the new season ahead.

“There remains a lot going on behind the scenes, in terms with getting in new players.

“For all that has gone on this summer, we have actually only lost one player (Chris Iwelumo) from last season.

“Chris (Barker) was on loan and was never our player.

“Richard (Garcia) is out of contract but we have left him alone so that he can consider his future,” added Mrs Partner.
