FORMER Colchester United star Mike Masters has become one of those to suffer from the credit crunch in America.
Striker Masters, who helped to guide the U's to the Conference/FA Trophy double in 1991-92, had been working for Lehman Brothers when the Wall Street banking giants collapsed earlier this month.
Louisiana-born Masters created a little piece of history for himself at the 1992 FA Trophy Final, because he became the first American to score at Wembley in a cup final when netting the opener in the 3-1 victory over Witton Albion. Masters did become the first U's player to gain an international cap at the end of his time at Layer Road, playing for America against Ukraine in June, 1992.
