Leiston chairman Andy Crisp has hailed the appointment of new management team Steve Pitt and Steve Ball, as the Blues look to recover from a poor spell of form.

Crisp made the announcement on Saturday at the Blues’ 3-0 home defeat to Wealdstone in the FA Trophy and Crisp explained why he had taken the decision to appoint the duo.

“Steve Pitt is a well respected manager in the non league scene and it’s with great pleasure we welcome him on board to take the reigns as first team manager,” said Crisp.

“Steve has enjoyed a fine season to date at Bishop’s Stortford in his role as an assistant to Rod Stringer and also played a big part in his scouting role at the club.

“The experience he has picked up at a higher level will for sure pay dividends as he takes over the number one seat at Leiston FC. Steve has a wide net work of players and contacts which will certainly benefit Leiston as a club as they look to lift themselves out of the relegation area.”

He added: £Steve Ball needs no introduction in these parts and we are delighted that he has rejoined the club he help made successful the season before last.

“Steve is not only a top quality coach he has a certain interaction with the players and knows how to get the best out of them, Bally admits that the success he enjoyed when involved at Leiston FC first time around stood him in good stead when applying for his current position at Colchester United.
