Leiston Reserves are putting their best foot forward in aid of raising awareness of mental health issues, helping club funds, as well as funds for EACH (East Anglian Childrens’ Hospice).

The Victory Road club team are undertaking a challenge at Grange Fitness and Performance in Martlesham tomorrow evening at 7.30pm. There are three aims to the challenge:

To raise funds for the new training pitch at Victory Road.

To raise funds for EACH (£1 in every £5 raised will go to EACH).

To raise awareness of mental health issues.

The challenge for the players – and management – is to do as many step ups as they can in 15 minutes.

The players will be using a 50cm box, the management a slightly lower one!

The original challenge that inspired this is called CHAD and was started in commemoration of US Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson who took his own life while suffering with PTSD.

The challenge comprises of 1,000 step-ups onto the high box while wearing a 15kg weight vest.

There has already been plenty of support, but further donations can still be made at Leiston’s home game with Stratford this weekend.
